"Really enjoyed our two night stay at Mayneview Bed and Breakfast. It is a beautiful historic home with tastefully restored decor. Our bed was amazingly comfortable and then to wake up to a delicious and hearty breakfast was perfect. Our hosts were very hospitable."

"The highlight for me was relaxing after a 5-hour drive in the outside hot tub with the view of the mountains and overlooking the town. If I ever revisit Luray, I wouldn't even think of staying anywhere else but Mayneview."

Your hosts

A historic hilltop, run by veterans

Mayneview is veteran owned and operated, and proudly offers a 10% discount to active and former U.S. military personnel.

Originally built in 1865 as a hunting lodge by the co-discoverer of Luray Caverns, the building served as a station on the Underground Railroad at the close of the Civil War. Today it is a carefully restored farmhouse with wide porches, a covered viewing pavilion, a fire pit patio, and a hot tub facing the Blue Ridge Mountains.

Common areas are yours to enjoy: a TV room with HBO and expanded cable, a light-filled parlor, a large dining room, a wraparound porch, a courtesy fridge, a Keurig for hot drinks at any hour, and a take-a-book shelf.

Local guide

Explore Luray and the Shenandoah Valley

Mayneview sits between Shenandoah National Park and the George Washington National Forest, minutes from the area's headline attractions.

Rock formations inside Luray Caverns

Luray Caverns

The world-famous caverns are a short drive from our door: towering stalactites, the Great Stalacpipe Organ, and mirror-still underground pools. Plan about two hours for the walking tour.

Food nearby

Downtown Luray's Main Street is a short stroll downhill, with cafes, diners and ice cream shops. Weekends fill fast, so head out early for dinner or ask us for timing tips.

Things to watch out for

Skyline Drive has a low speed limit that rangers enforce strictly, so allow extra time. Cell signal drops in parts of the park, so download offline maps before you go. Cavern floors are damp and slippery: wear grippy shoes.

Getting here

We are at 439 Mechanic Street, Luray, VA 22835, an easy drive from Washington D.C. via I-66 and US-211. GPS sometimes favors steep back roads into town; if your route looks odd, call us at +1 540-669-5105 and we will talk you in.

Safety notes

Black bears live in Shenandoah National Park: keep food sealed and never feed wildlife. Check weather before ridge hikes, as conditions change fast. At the inn, the fire pit area is unlit after dark, so bring the porch light mindset and watch your step.
